- Dr. Nancy K. Schlossberg
- Three major parts of model:
- Approaching transition: Identifying type of transition (Anticipated or nonevent transition) and process.
- Identifying coping resources
- Strategies that can be used to take charge of the transition
- Four major factors influence how individuals handle transitions:
- The situation: triggers, timing, source, role change, duration, and concurrent stress
- The self: socioeconomic status, culture/race/ethnicity, gender role, age, stage of life, health
- Support: intimate relationships, family, friendship networks, institutions
- Strategies: individual's ability to cope
